Edmonton is trying to become a more interesting place to spend the winter, since winter is half the year here. This neighbourhood festival was an excellent chance to enjoy a fairly warm winter day. There was free lunch (pulled pork sandwiches) at noon, and traffic wasn’t allowed at the corner of 124 Street and Jasper Avenue. There was an outdoor farmer’s market, a tent for crafts, outdoor activities, a beer garden and concerts for 8 hours. I didn’t stay for the evening, when the Christmas lights were turned on. There were also sleigh rides, and people in “Christmas Devil” costumes marched down the street. They will celebrate a German holiday on Whyte Avenue on December 5. Take a look at the photos, and watch for the next outdoor festival that you can enjoy this winter!
