Summer weekends in Edmonton are full of activities. It’s hard to keep up with all of the festivals but you should go to see or do something interesting on the weekend. At the Heart of the City Festival, young singers and songwriters will be showing off their work. At Edmonton Pride, lesbian, gay, transgendered and queer individuals will be celebrating their diversity, along with their friends, family and community. The Saturday parade along 102 Avenue (107 Street-Churchill Square) is a highlight. NextFest highlights a lot of new art, especially in the area of 124 Street. They will have a lot of live entertainment at the 124 Street market, on Thursday evening. The craft beer festival, at Edmonton Northlands is a favourite of mine, since I can try 300 different kinds of beer, that are produced in small batches. Metro Cinema has different movies several times/day, near the High Level Bridge on 109 Street. On Saturday at 2, they’re playing The Princess Bride, one of the best movies ever made. MacEwan University is sharing some tips for bicycling in Edmonton. Check out the links, and make sure that you don’t spend all weekend cleaning your apartment!
