Edmonton has nonstop, overlapping festivals all summer long. One of my favourites has been The Works, a festival of the visual arts. There are 50 different art exhibits in 28 venues. If you’re short on time, just go to Churchill Square, where there is a whole lot going on. You can also purchase food and art from vendors onsite there. There is a beer garden with live music during the festival. There are usually some really weird artworks, as well as some amazingly gorgeous work. Take a look around and decide for yourself!
The Works International Visual Arts Society is a non-profit charitable organization whose projects have included local, regional, national and international programs and events that have combined the resources of the public and private sectors with Canada’s cultural community.
